I am Ijaz, a first-generation British Pakistani, raised in Watford byKashmiri parents whose love and sacrifices shaped everything I am.
I am deeply grateful to the UK for the opportunities it gave me,
but over time, I felt increasingly disconnected, searching for something more grounded, more meaningful.
8 years ago that search brought me to Tangier, Morocco, a city where
tradition and modernity live side by side,and where I finally felt a sense of belonging.
The kindness of its people, the beauty of its culture and the
rhythm of life here
This inspired me to create Dar-e-Shah, a space of peace,
connection & homecoming. I am sure you will fall in love
with Tangiers as I have.
Alhamdulillah, all praise is due to Allah (swt) for guiding this journey.

The Villa Dar-e-Shah
Just before Covid I decided to sell everything I have in England and start building my new dream in Morocco
To say the timing wasn’t ideal would be an understatement , but I knew I had to keep moving forward. Deep down, I believed life had to offer more than the daily grind, the endless rat race we had come to accept as normal.
After nearly three decades in IT, commuting to London and wherever the job required, I began to feel the weight of it all. I had lost a few close friends to early deaths and time with my family had become scarce, everyone too busy, life moving too fast. It was a wake-up call.
I longed for something more: a better quality of life, deeper connections, and space to reflect and renew my faith. That desire became my compass.
Moroccan artisans have always inspired me with their craftsmanship and timeless beauty. At the same time, my background in technology has given me a deep appreciation for modern comfort and convenience. With Dar-e-Shah, I’ve sought to blend these worlds—honoring the privacy and elegance of a traditional Riad, while integrating the function and ease of a contemporary home.
